Get to Know Dr. Bussey-Smith
Dr. Bussey-Smith is a specialist in the fields of Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology. Her educational background includes graduating 2nd in her class from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Social Work, and graduating in the top 10% of her medical school class from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She was elected to the National Medical honor society, Alpha-Omega-Alpha, in 2000, and went on to complete her Internal Medicine training at the University of Kentucky. She received several awards during her residency, including: "Best Intern Team Player" and "Best Morning Report Presentation." Additionally, in 2001, the American College of Physicians honored Dr. Bussey-Smith with the "Internist of the Year Award," and more recently, Texas Monthly named Dr. Bussey-Smith to its list of Texas Rising Stars in the 2012 edition of SuperDoctors. After completing her Internal Medicine training, Dr. Bussey-Smith pursued additional knowledge and skills through the dual fellowship program in Allergy, Immunology & Rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine, where she served as Chief Fellow and participated in teaching, national meetings, and research.
